Meet Dr. LaTonya Washington 

LaTonya Washington, MD, MBA, CPE, CHCQM is a seasoned physician and healthcare executive committed to improving the health and wellbeing of the community around her and empowering physicians to achieve their professional goals. Dr. Washington is passionate about educating medical students and practicing physicians on the business aspect of medicine and developing physician leadership career strategy. She obtained her medical degree from University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Dr. Washington completed her residency at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She holds a Master’s of Business Administration from Auburn University’s Physician Executive Program.  Additionally, she holds the Certified Physician Executive (CPE) designation as well as the Certification in Health Care Quality and Management (CHCQM) designation. She currently serves as the Physician Advisor at St. Francis - Memphis, a position focused on improving healthcare quality and hospital efficiency.

Dr. Washington is a seasoned speaker and has delivered talks throughout the country on an array of medical topics as a CME/community speaker, professional development for physicians, professionalism, and business acumen in medicine. She serves as a medical consultant, medical expert witness, and maintains a collaborative relationship with medical and legal professionals to stay abreast of the changing nature of healthcare contracts. 

Dr. Washington is the founder of The Drs. Washington Podcast where she joins her biological sisters, Dr. Kimberly and Dr. Jasmine, discussing aspects of their lives and journeys into medicine, giving advice and key steps for students aspiring to attend medical school, and discussing pertinent health topics.

Dr. Washington has experienced the common pitfalls and struggles of physicians during career transitions.  She is proficient in contract review and analysis and had the rare opportunity to construct her own employment contract for one of her previous roles. Her years of experience make her uniquely positioned to assist both early career and seasoned physicians in navigating career transitions into clinical, hybrid, and non-clinical roles.
